(Ottawa) - The Institute of Marriage and Family Canada is pleased to announce that Andrea Mrozek will be taking on the role of Executive Director. Mrozek has been with the IMFC almost since its inception. She started in 2006 as the Manager of Research and Communications.
“Andrea has worked hard to establish the IMFC in key policy areas. Her research and incredible ability to communicate that research will serve her well in her new role leading the team at the Institute of Marriage and Family Canada,” said Derek Rogusky, Vice-President at Focus on the Family Canada.
Mrozek’s many accomplishments at the IMFC include her study on the cost of family breakdown in Canada, the first of its kind in this country. She was also able to quantify the real costs of all-day kindergarten in Ontario at $1.5 billion annually before the provincial government later admitted to that same amount.
The IMFC was established in 2005 and has since become the leading Canadian source for family information, research and elevated discussion on controversial topics. The IMFC remains committed to research showing just how important family and marriage is to Canadian society by focussing on areas like education, family structure and the effect on child outcomes, as well as elder care, daycare and family finances, among others.
Mrozek has a Master’s degree in History from the University of Toronto and has worked at the Fraser Institute, Toronto Life and the Western Standard. Prior to this, she worked in communications at an international human resources consulting company.
Her commentaries have appeared in the National Post, Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun, Calgary Herald,Montreal Gazette, Toronto Sun and the Ottawa Citizen, among others, and she’s frequently seen on TV and heard on radio programs across Canada.
The Institute of Marriage and Family Canada is a not-for-profit organization that conducts, compiles and presents the latest and most accurate research to ensure that marriage and family-friendly policy are foremost in the minds of Canada’s decision makers.
